  1. I produce music for a hobby, i make remixes and stuff like that. I was i have every instrument in a different track and stuff and i can output my remixes in WMA PRO in 5.1 channels, where i specify in which channel i want each instrument in. I was wondering, if i seperate each channel (6 files) to a WAV file, is there any way i can encode it in 5.1 channels so i can hear it on DVD players, like to encode on AC3 5.1 channels. and what program i can use for that. and can i also burn it on a normal CD-r and make it still work? In other words, encode and burn a CD with a song in 5.1 channel dvd audio. is it possible?

  2. yes,you can.
I if you have 6 wav files you can encode in to a 5.1 DTS sound.
I already burn some music cd's by mixing 6 wav mono files into a 5.1 DTS wav file and burned or a cd-r as a music-cd and you can playback the cd on a cd player or dvd player with a digital sound output on a receiver with DTS decoder, the results is excellent.I hope this awnsered your question.

  4. I think by "sourcode" he meant Surcode - a company that makes audio encoding software. They are by no means cheap, their software is in the $1000 and up range.

If you are going to be involved in encoding to 5.1-ch DD or DTS in a deep way be prepared to spend hundreds$$ for s/w. This is not cheap because the people who wrote these s/w pay a lot in licensing to Dolby and DTS, and one reason is so that there are certain minimum standards enforced and met. That's why, among other reasons, Dolby Digital is the chosen default audio format for DVD. I think the new Adobe Encore/Premiere Pro has 5.1-ch encoding.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

  8. Hello,

I would like to bump this topic back up.. I have Surcode yet am having trouble getting it to play anything but static. The encoding seems to go fine, but any time i play it back all I get is static. Playing back on a creative Audigy 2 Paltinum Pro, but SPDIF-ing via optical cable from the break-out box to the pod on my 5.1 speaker set-up, Logitechs. I've been trying to play this 5.1 wave on many diggerent configs, but all I get is white noise.. any ideas?

    thanks,

    Veech
