Has anyone tried updating the firmware on the LG GSA-4040B with the drive housed in an external USB 2.0 enclosure?
The LG instructions really emphasize that the drive must be installed as master on IDE channel 2 to do a firmware update. Just wondering if these instruction are intended to "idiot-proof" the process and/or duck liability, or if it really does need t be attached as master on IDE2 for technical reasons.
I'm considering getting an external enclosure for my LG 4040B, but it would be a real hassle to have to take the drive out of the external box and open up the computer case every time I need to update the firmware. They seem to release a new fimware version every month or so for these drives.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!
