  1. Hi All,
We have come across a rather annoying sync issue with a couple of AVI files. When playing in a window, the audio and video keep nicely in sync however, putting to full screen and the sound races ahead until such a point you are hearing what happens 5 minutes before you see it! This doesn't happen with all the AVIs but just a couple of them.

Would anyone know the cause of this? Is it likely that burning this to SVCD will cause the issue to exist on the SVCD?

    TIA

  2. You don't supply any computer specs, but to me this looks most like a simple processing speed or disk access speed issue. IMHO, it is unlikley to be a problem if the avi is converted to SVCD. Try converting a short section (5 or 10 minutes perhaps) and play it full screen on uour PC before burning. SVCD decoding should be easier than the avi, assuming the avi is divx or some other mpeg4 variant.

Even if your PC cannot play the SVCD full screen, a SVCD compatible DVD player should have no such problems.

  3. Thanks for the reply. The PC is an Athlon 1100, 512MB DDR RAM, 64Mb Radeon 7500 graphics card (I think!). I did think processing issue but we have managed to play AVIs full screen with other applications running without the same problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, will give it a try, in the end, I couldn't care less about the AVI as long as the CD worked!

    Cheers

What are you using to view the files?
If you're using Windows Media Player, don't.
    Try something else.
I find I have a similar problem which goes away when I use the player within my ATI software.
    Good luck
