Universal remote that operates a DVD recorder and Laser disc

I bought a Sony universal 7 device remote and notice it doesn't list any DVD recorders (DVDR) or Laser Disc players. It does say it will control a DVR (digital video recorder) but I think that is one of those hard drive recorders and not a DVDR recorder. I was able to make it work on some functions for my Panasonic E50 recorder but not all by programing it as a DVD code. I'm not able to get the remote to do anything with my Laser Disc player.

Anyone here know of a remote that does it all?

A quick calculation tells me a top of the line universal remote would be cheaper than a wife.

Sony makes a touch screen universal. It can the house lights, air conditioners, pretty much anything that has a remote. I think it has enough room for 25 devices.

Model number RM-AV3000 Integrated Remote Commander. If you shop around, you should be able to find it for $100.
