  1. I've got some footage from a haunted house that's pretty dark. Other than the basic brightness controls, is there something I can use to brighten it up and bring out detail? Maybe a VirtualDub plugin or something?

    I highly recommend SonicFoundry Vegas Video 4.0 - you can download the Trail to try it out.
    It has the best filters and effects than any other program I've tried, and it's the easiest program to understand.

    I'm sure Adobe Premiere 6.0 has some great effects as well, and also is Trailware, but it's a lot more complex than Vegas Video.

    Vegas has many presets that can save you a lot of time, but you can apply custom effects/filters to your project as well.

    I seriously don't know what I would do without it
