  1. I have a sony drx 500ulx on its way to me in the mail right now. I already have a sony dvp-ns325 dvd player. I have already been searching the forums and I can not find the answer im looking for. Since my new burner is in the mail, i want to order to dvd media. Does anyone here have the same set up or have any thoughts as to which type of media works in both. I see alot of people talking about ritek g04. Im assuming that they are the best, but wanted to make sure that they are compatible with my set up. Seems like no dvd media will work in all writers and media. Also I know that +/- media is kinda the same. Which do you think will work better. My dvd player and writer support all formats. Any help would be nice. Where is the cheapest place for media. I have searches all these questions, but seems everyone has mixed opinions.

    Thanx

I think you have been reading into some of peoples problems way too much. I have Sony, Plextor and HP DVD writers and they have wrote sucessfully to Memorex, TDK, Verbatim, and Fuji with no coasters. I burn with Nero 5/6, Record Now DX and DVD Decrypter. They play on my Sony DVP-NS315 and a Panasonic DVD-S35. I buy all my media locally and when it's on sale in bulk packs of 25/50 and 100. You need to find out what works for you. You might be surprised in the end to find out that the problems other people are having, is confined to thier set-up only. Added: You will find that DVD-R is more compatible in more players, old and new than DVD+R. I started mainly with the + media and since changed to backing-up in DVD-R only.

  3. The key thing to know that some DVD writers require firmware updates before they'll write on the cheaper media. I think every writer will write to standard name brand media out of the box without any firmware modifications. Some will even write to Ritek G04's without modification....

I think for your first batch of discs, you should get Ritek G04's from a reputable place like allmediaoutlet.com or rima.com
