Some DV camera's support wht you are wanting to do, it is called pass-through.
What you need to do is connect the VCR to the camera using you AV inputs, connect the camera to the computer via firewire, and use a capture program, like Amcap.
What type of DV camera do you have? Unfortunately, my Canon ZR-30 didn't support this type of operation.Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
I use this type of setup for transferring from an analog (8-mm) camera through my DV camera (Canon ZR-70) then firewire into my PC.
I had a lot of trouble initially getting the pass-through to work. It went fine until I tried to record the captured video on my hard drive. As soon as I hit the record button on the caputure software (Ulead 6.0 and MovieStar 5), the software seemd to shut down the signal coming from the DV camera. Turns out that if I took the DV tape out of the camera, everything works fine. -
Does all cameras support this pass-through option? I want to record from my satellite receiver into my PC for author it then to DVD. and want to use a DV-Cam as pass-through. I'm considering a Sony handycam, Does this cameras support this?
Thanks
George
