  1. In Premiere I have this problem where my playback from the timeline is garbled and stuttering. The file plays fine when previewed from the project or monitor window.

Video playback is perfect and realtime. I have a P4 at 2.6ghz and a gig of DDR ram.

    What gives?

Thats a weird one. The symptoms you have described usually occur when memory is low but it looks like you have plenty of memory. Make sure that you don't have any other programs running at the same time you are using premeire including virus scanners. What kind of file are you dealing with

  3. This happens with any type of audio file I drop into the timeline.

Now all the audio on my computer is hollow and echoes no matter what I use to play it- WMP, Powerdvd, etc.

You didn't happen to recently upgrade to XP, did you?

I had the same symptoms and searched for an answer for weeks. Finally, came down to a GeForce & a Creative card not being able to live happily with each other in XP - for whatever reason. Had to install a no-name sound card to get sound back to normal.

Something to consider, if you happen to have that combo of hardware.
