Pinnacle Studio 8.8 burning issues

I am using Pinnacle Studio 8.8 and an NEC1300 writer to author DVDs from my DV home movies and have come across a couple of (unrelated) issues, I'm hoping someone can give me an idea how to work around/resolve them.

Pinnacle takes AGES to render the final DVD, about 4+ hours for 60 mins on an Athlon XP2000.


Question 1 is :- As Pinnacle will only write to my NEC1300 at 2x speed , can I write the rendered project using another app e.g. Nero ?, I can't work out if Pinnacle generates a standard bunch of files prior to burning.

Question 2 is :- Can I build the project using Pinnacle but render the project using something quicker ? (I like the way it works and the ease of use and don't get any of the buggy issues that others get)

I know these are both long shots but I live in hope

If I've understood your questions correctly then:
1. Yes. I have created an MPEG2 file using Studio and then used DVD MovieFactory to add menus and burn. Also, in the Disc options you can select 'Create disc content but don't burn' which allows you to use Nero, I believe (though I've never tried it).
2. As far as I am aware, this is not possible. You could try making an avi, which is quicker, and then use an external encoder to make the mpeg, though I don't think it would save you any time!

..Does anyone know if you can simulate test burn DVDs with either Pinnacle or Nero ???

I think that the answer is No for Studio and Yes for Nero (I'm using the older 5.5 version and you can certainly do a simulation in that).
