The jury is still out on the pros and cons of one format over the other.
But,just out of curiosity,what format is being used for studio DVD movies?

neither, a commercial DVD is actually Pressed layers between plastic. Its not a recordable format, it manufactuered.
However the DVD Forum which set the DVD Standard is the same one that supports the DVD-RW format. Make of that what you will. -
The format is called DVD-ROM.
You can create 100% compatible DVD-ROM disks with Ricoh based DVD+R/W drives and an app called DVDInfo. Once you set the Book type to DVD-ROM they are compatable with all set top players."Terminated!" :firing:
