  1. I'm trying to convert an avi recorded at 23,976 fps to SVCD mpg, playable on a PAL tv set. I have tried using PAL and NTSC or NTSC Film templates (using TMPGe) I've tried using the 3:2 drop down feature but, when I try and burn with nero, it states its' not in SVCD format. Even if I de-select 3:2 and go with interlace or non-interlace, no joy. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Put them in your TEMPLATE directory, and load the NTSC Film template and encode, and it should work it fine.

Your not doing anything wrong. Nero doesnt recognize the pulldown flag and says your mpg is non compliant when it really is. Try burning it anyway and seeing if it will play. Most pal tv's have no trouble playing an ntsc signal, for the ones that do most dvd players have no problem modifying the ntsc signal to play on a pal set.

If you do have problems you will have to telecine that mpg to pal. You can use TMPGenc to do this but most likey you wont need.

  4. Converting 23.97 to 25 fps is a seriously not cool thing to do in TMPG. On the off chance that you have to convert it, use Vdub or something to do it beforehand and frameserve it.

Also, Nero has no problems with pulldown flags as long as you're using NTSC resolutions. If you've converted it to PAL resolution with NTSC framerate, it's technically noncompliant.

23.976fps is a compliant ntsc resolution as long as the pulldown flags are there, yet Nero still complains about the fps being non-compliant, at least it has every single time I have tried it and I have heard the same thing from numerous people. So as far as I can tell Nero definitely has a bug about this.

  6. Yep. same deal over here, but it doesnt worry, if you jsut burn it anway, it still works, and plays back at 29.97 FPS (I THINK).
