For some reason, my ATI card won't let me capture in 480x480. I've been researching this for days and can't seem to find a way to get around it. I try to tweak the custom settings in VirtualDub and a couple other capture softwares, but nothing seems to help. VirtualDub says that the format is not supported. In the drop-down menu where you choose your resolution, the highest it will go is 352x240. Does anyone know what the trick to this is?
I am trying to capture in NTSC, so responses dealing with NTSC rather than PAL would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with vdub. Won't allow custom settings and nothing higher that VCD resolution. However, MMC7.1 does allow the 480x480 you're looking for. Have you tried that?

i have the same problem too with same card like yours. to capture at 480x480 using vdub, i tried switching to preview mode instead of overlay mode, change to 20 or lower frames per second at CAPTURE/SETTINGS and then you can capture at 480x480 but watch the drop frames though. I tried capturing this a while ago but my cpu can't catch up, the picture freezes while capturing so i switch back to my original settings VCD quality. try this if it will work for you.

got a 1.53ghz palomino, raided ibm SCSI 10k drives
nah I can't burn directly to svcd with nero, but after a simple 480 X 480 conversion I sure can! -

I *think* we only have MMC 7.0. My SO, who builds the computers around these parts, had some concerns over using 7.1 with Win98, but now that we know this, we'll give 7.1 a shot. This has probably been my single largest obstacle to getting this whole VCD ball rolling.

Okay, confused again.
I have an ATI All in Wonder Pro, running on a 1Ghz Win98 machine with a 40gb hard drive and 256MB memory. It's not a Radeon card, just your basic AIW Pro PCI card. I'm being told by other sources that MMC 7.1 doesn't work with Win98 and/or the AIW Pro, that it's for the Radeon. Can someone clarify this for me?
