Possible to remove watermark (?) from home made video?

First of all, no it's not anything illegal.

Found a homemade video of a bunch of different clips of olsen twins, put to a song. Actually pretty well done, (picture could be better), and my daughter would like me to put on svcd for her.

Unfortunately, the author has put a watermark, (is that what it's called?), that covers about 1/4 of the bottom screen. It's just a little too bold. Is there a way to remove this?

You can clip the bottom part of the movie using TMPGEnc. Its under the Source Range option its called Clip Frame.
