DVD-R purchasing?

I have been pondering the idea of buying a DVD writer and was wondering if anyone has any sites that they would recommend purchasing a writer from?

I know the writers themselves run about $700 but how much are the blank media selling for?

Blank media are still a little on the expensive side. You are in a better position in the States than we in Europe. Blank branded discs retail for around 10 dollars each and you can get unbranded discs for around 5-6 dollars each on spindles of 100 mail order.

Here in the UK branded blank discs retail for around 9 pounds mail order and bulk spindles are around 6 pounds a disc.

Those prices are for DVD-R though, roughly double the prices fr DVD-RW at the moment.

Multiwave (www.mwave.com) has the Pioneer burner for USD549.00

Meritline (www.meritline.com) has fairly low prices on dvd-r and dvd-rw. Last time I checked, verbatim dvd-r was USD8.20; pioneer dvd-r was USD9.00

There was also a recent news item somewhere that Apple was supposed to have dropped the price of their dvd-r five packs to USD30.00
