first an awesome forum
im converting svcds to dvd -i have been using svcd2dvd and mastero to author
the prob ive been having is on the ntsc dropframe movies in which mastero refuses to put any chapter points
so i used mainconcept tonight to convert a video stream to dvd specs at 29.97 from 24.**and used the audio file from what dvd2svcd had produced
loaded up in mastero and the video is shown as 40 odd mins long and the audio at 50 odd minutes long
strange i though so i previewed and the preview has everything in sync
as is the dvd outputted from it -tested on comp not standalone
i am assuming this is all to do with dropframe
does a dvd player play at 29.97 or at 23.** if drop frame is used
finally any ideas on the mastero refusing to put chapter points on dropframe movies
the error refers to the iframes -would it be beacaue the different times on the audio and video which if drop frame is the file imported would show the audio and video the same lenght
still trying to get my head around this-getting more confused as i type
thanks in advance if u can shed some light

it has nothing to do with drop frame vs. non drop frame (which in a 40 minute movie would be a diff of about 4 secs') ..
you are getting two terms mixed up ..
film is (mostly) 24fps (shown at 23.98 if NTSC) progresive .. but TV 's need 29.97 interlaced (except for progresive tv's) , so pulldown is used on the 24(23.98)fps progressive mpeg file to add extra fields..
you can do this in Main Concept encoder -- it has built in pulldown ... -
oh -- and i never really answered your question ... you kinda confused me on what your question is ..
in Maestro -- yur audio and video better be the same lenth .. you have a audio shift and video trim feature though in Maestro ..
not for 10 minutes though ... hehe

yep i kinda confused myself
what i loaded up in mastero was the video stream i converted from 24>** to 29.97 and the audio which svcd 48khz which svcd2dvd produced
the video is shown as 40 odd mins long
the audio is shown as 50 odd mins long
using the preview in mastero everything is perfectly in sync -
also mastero has no prob putting chapter points in the 29.97 video stream
where as before if refused to do so -

if video is shorter ... missing video sounds like ..
place viewer on time line a few sec before end of shorter line and play from that point .. -
