Newbie here. I have the LF-D521 and have used MovieAlbum to edit and have gotten that into DVD Workshop with ease. The thing I don't like about MovieAlbum is you can't see exactly where you are cutting and sometimes the end result isn't exactly where you want it, yes, I know why. With TMPGEnc, it shows you exactly where you can mark it it absolutely rules. MovieAlbum also adds a whistle to the audio. So PLEASE tell me how to get my edited video from TMPGEnc into DVD Workshop, I'm on my third day of trying to figure this out and have a pounding headache!(I hope this post sounds desperate because this is driving me insane). Which is it? A) We don't know B) If you can't figure something that simple out, you wouldn't understand the answer. Please help me, guys.

(C) We don't understand the question.
What, specifically, is the nature of the problem you're having in getting the TMPGenc-encoded MPEG files into DVD Workshop? Is DVDWS complaining about the file not being a compliant MPEG and refusing to open it? Is it trying to re-encode it for you? Does it open the file but display scrambled contents? Or does it just crash with an error message?
The devil is always in the details, and we need more of those before we can venture an opinion on what might be wrong. -
Thanks! I have 100.00 worth of books on DVD Workshop and I don't know the steps involved to get the Video_TS and Audio_TS folder in there. Does that make sense. I'm on almost five days on this. Nothing is going wrong getting it in there because I don't know how.

Um... OK, then you really need to read those books more carefully, because I don't think you quite understand what DVD Workshop _does_.
DVDWS is an authoring program; it creates the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories that get burned to disc -- you don't "get them in there", it makes them on its own, along with the VOB/IFO/BUP files those directories will contain, out of the video files (AVI or MPEG) you provide it and the menus you create within it.
TMPGenc, on the other hand, does not create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories containing VOB/IFO/BUP files. TMPGenc is an encoder; it creates MPEG files out of the source video/audio files you provide it.
If you've taken your raw video and encoded it with TMPGenc, then what you have when you're done is one or more files ending in an MPG extension. (If you've been saving these into a directory named VIDEO_TS, thinking this directory can be burned to DVD as-is, then you're laboring under a misconception -- yes, DVD's use MPEG-2, but the MPEG files have to be converted to VOB by an authoring program before they can be put on a disc.) It is these files which you then import into DVD Workshop.
Does that help? -
Thanks for taking the time out to help me figure out what I'm doing wrong, Solarfox. I'm not an idiot, I'm just having a difficult time grasping everything, OK, so maybe I am an idiot. So no wonder it wouldn't work. I'll tell you what I have accomplished so far, which is what you said needs to be done. The explanation you have provided to me was very concise and to the point. I now have a much better understanding. It is also what I have been doing but thought I was doing it incorrectly. So I feel much better now. So that answers my question. While I've got you on the line, can you tell me why when I create a disc from the files that TMPGenc produces, the audio and video are not in sync. If I could get this right I will be so damn happy. When I produce a disc from files that MovieAlbum produces, there is not a sync problem. My source is DVD-RAM discs recorded on my DMR-HS2. Thank you so much, Solarfox! Sam

Well, maybe I don't understand as much as I thought I did. Which TMPGenc program are we talking about? I'm using TMPGenc Author to edit, you're saying that's not an authoring program? Is it TMPGenc Plus that I'm supposed to be using for this? I have both on my computer. I edited a program last night and burned it to DVD using TMPGenc. I have a huge sync problem. I know that it's because I don't know what is for what purpose. I made a great DVD using MovieAlbum but the audio has a faint whistle that can be heard or I would just give up and use that. I would like to know what the steps are to getting from my DVD-RAM into DVDWS to make a DVD without a sync problem. If you could list the steps involved that would be great. I can't be too far off at this point because I made an amazing quality DVD but the sound was out of sync with the picture. Don't give up on me, I know we're close to getting this right if I can make a DVD with it already with out of sync sound. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide. Sam

Ah, OK, we're talking about two different programs, then. Yes, I was referring to TMPGenc Plus, the encoder -- which is probably what most people will assume you mean, BTW, if you don't specifically say "TMPGenc Author" since the encoding program has been around a lot longer and is generically referred to as "TMPGenc".
TMPGenc Author is something I have no experience with -- I've never even looked at it -- so I can't advise you there other than to reiterate that you can't put those VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS directories into DVD Workshop. (Unless all you want to do is use DVDWS's burning engine to record the disc, in which case you can go straight to "Burn Disc Image" and select the "From DVD directory" option, then point it at the VIDEO_TS directory that TMPGEnc Author just made. That's all DVDWS can do with it, though; you can't do any further editing or menu creation with the finished disc structures.)
I'm afraid I may have to defer to some of the other forum members here about the details of what you're trying to do, since I have no experience with the DMR-HS2 or with MovieAlbum, and I can't say I've ever had an audio sync problem with TMPGenc before... -
Again I want to thank you for taking the time out to try and help. I'm going to start another thread concerning the sync issue.

In TmpGenc DVD Author extract the RTAV folder (source setup, add dvd video). This works best if you haven't edited anything on your PAN recorder - an unbroken structure. Do not edit the resulting mpg file. Place that file in Ulead DVD Workshop (preferably the AC-3 version) and mark in/mark out what you want to retain and select a VBR higher than the mpg file. Finish (High quality, vbr video,ac3 audio) and create DVD directory, etc. It works every time for me with a pan e60 DVD-RAM capture without an audio sync problem.
