Have been having a problem with encoding to VCD. When played back on my DVD player, sound 'mutes' every now and again for a second or so. Upon further investigation have found that encoded full length MPEG is fine but MPEG 'chunks' made with 'Boilsofts' AVI/MPEG/ASF/VMW Splitter V2.01 (cut in half to fit on two disks) have 'pops' on the sound every so often (the same time as my DVD player mutes) Media Player tells me that the chunks are corrupt but the original full length MPEG plays fine.

This problem has only appeared since I had a hard drive problem. I remember running the splitter and being told there was a .dll missing. So, I reinstalled the splitter which didn't clear the error. In the end I downloaded the .dll off the internet. I can't remember what the .dll was called for me to check I downloaded the correct one though. I assume it's a .dll that comes with windows that it uses and is not part of the initial program. Anybody know which .dlls this program uses? TIA

  3. Try to demultiplex and multiplex the files. Also, if you are making VCD's from avi-files, try to split the avi-files first before encoding to mpeg (instead of splitting the mpeg-files), since splitting mpegs can give you all kinds of strange problems.
