I'm producing DVDs but I also have to put out a VHS Tape at times. I've used MS Word to create the spine and face label but it's a real pain. I'm wondering what others have used to label their VHS tapes? I've like to drag in pictures also .... if that's an option.

if you're making custom covers, will this support that, or does this just utilize cover scans from other sources? The website FAQ is not super informative...

    Gritz -

I have Photoshop & Quark, so I tend to use those, but they aren't cheap and I wouldn't go get them just to do dvd & vhs covers.

Yep it supports custom covers, all you have to do is click in the main window and load your cover.

I didn't phrase my question right - will this program allow you to create a new cover from scratch, or does it just assist in printing covers from other sources?

i.e. if I have a couple of screen grabs from the movie, and I want to add spine text, cover text, back cover text, etc. etc., can I do that? Or is this just for import and placement of ready-made covers (like from download)?

    housepig,
Photoshop does VHS labels? I'll have to look into that since I have Photoshop. Do I need to download some special templates? Or did you mean that you use Quark in conjunction with Photoshop?

are you talking about VHS labels that you'd slip into a library-style case?

If that's the case, I would just scan one that you have already, place some guidlines to outline the spine area, clear out all the graphics from the scan, and save as an empty document with some guidelines.

you can do the same thing with Quark, of course.

I tend to use Photoshop for basic stuff, and if I have anything really complicated with a lot of text, I use Quark.

Housepig, only one problem with your idea. What if you buy the VHS special edition of The Fellowship of the Ring and it comes in an ugly, dark green cardboard box? My idea, when I bought it, was to do this:

Beats an ugly cardboard box hands down!

I didn't mean use the scan, I meant use a scan to make a template that you can then use to import new graphics or customize to your taste.. but the template means that your sizes and space relationships will be correct.

    nice covers, by the way.
