Is there a program that would allow me to change the 4:3 flag to 16:9 in an avi or mpg file? I know I can do that with ifoedit if I want to make a whole DVD 16:9 but I want to make a couple of DVDs with mixed 4:3 and 16:9 footage. The 16:9 footage is true anamorphic 16:9, recorded from digital TV or from my camcorder, but is flagged 4:3 when recorded to DV tape.

AFAIK, avi files do not have the DAR flag that specifies 4:3 or 16:9, they are intended for PC display and so are always displayed 1:1. For mpeg-2 files, you can use DVDPatcher, should be in the tools section.
I am not sure which DVD authoring programs will accept multiple aspect ratios and work correctly as I believe this would require the generation of multiple title sets and most consumer level apps will only produce 1 title set.
