is it recommended to convert mode1 videos to mode2 videos? if not, why? if yes, how do you do it? also, is it possible to compress video files so that i could fit two files into one 800mb cd? thanks.

i believe the .mpg files themselves are not inherently mode 1 or 2....it's the way you burn them....if you burn .mpg files to (S)VCD, then you will have to burn them as mode 2...actually, in nero..you have no choice...it is mode 2.Originally Posted by fishy`

yes, if you're starting from the DVD, you need to lower the bitrate until it can fit...however, you will sacrifice quality...so, it's quality vs. number of discs....Originally Posted by fishy`
if you already have the .mpg, you could re-encode it at a lower bitrate...however, simply re-encoding the .mpg will lower the quality
