Does Princo 4x burn at 2x on Pioneer A04/104? (fw 1.31)

Anyone burn Princo 4x media at 2x on the A04/104? I have firmware 1.31 and was hoping this might work....

I have never done this (have A05) but the media is rated for up to 4x, that is you can burn at slower speeds. But if you have the A04 why not say a few bucks and just by 2x media?

Because 4x media is better, and more stable. The 4x Princo can balance just as good as the best of the 2x media like Maxell.

On the NEWEST OFFICIAL firmwares, you can use 2x on 4x discs in the 103 and 104 drives. I use onyl 4x discs these days, dropping to 2x when used in the 103.

I wouldn't mind keeping firmware 1.31, it has been good to me. I have been very happy with ritek's at 2x, but the 4x princo's are now much cheaper than 1x ritek's - at least in Canada. I would rather not loose the ability to burn ritek's at 2x by upgrading to the latest firmware.

I am sure hoping 1.31 will do them at 2x.
