  1. Hi,

I searched through this and other forums and didn't find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have WinXP Pro, Nero 5.5.10.28, Samsung CD-R/CD-RW (52x, 24x, 32x).

I can author my own SVCD's no problem using AVI2SVCD. I burn the bins with with Nero, watch them on my DVD Player (Phillips DVDR985) and everything's fine. Everytime I try to dl SVCD's already made and burn them using Nero - they won't play on the DVD player. I can mount the image in Daemon tools and the quality's fine. I scan the bins using CDmage and they're fine, but once I burn them and put them in the DVD player they do the same thing. The vertical hold flips out and I can see it's in black and white. I'm assuming it's a burning problem since I can watch them on my computer fine. Maybe it's a setting in Nero I have to make? It'd be much easier to get these to work then author every DVD I watch.

    Thanks in advance.

Check the resolution of the SVCDs against the resolution in the SVCD table and see if they are either NTSC or PAL.
    Hello.

  3. Would I use TMPGEnc to do this? I can load up the .mpg file. Where would I find the screen reolution or fps?

(I don't think that these are PAL - they are 3 very recent releases and I belive they were authored in the US)

Yes, TMPGEnc. Select File-->New Project. Load your video and look at the bottom of the main screen.

  6. Sounds like you are trying to play a PAL disc on an NTSC only system, or vice versa.

  7. Yup. I'm surprised that all of these new are in PAL and not NTSC. Oh well...

I see the guide on converting these so that will be a big help.

Once that's done, can I swap the new NTSC mpg for the old PAL one in the SVCD'S MPEG folder, burn and leave the other folders as is?
