  2. If you have the MPEG file you can open it up in Virtual dub ( http://www.virtualdub.org/ ). The select File> File information. From there you can see the frame rate to tell if it's NTSC (29.97 or 23.97 fps) or PAL (25 fps), and you have the resolution, which you can work out the AR from.

    Also, if you get get the Vdub with mpeg2 support so you can also use it for SVCD.
