  1. come on, Colecovison had all the early systems sucking grass, and why all this console, nothing beats a good 3DFX games like Unreal, Unreal Tournment, Max payne, Half life, and most any OpenGL Games, throw away the Nvidia and Gforce cards cause my VooDoo 5500 AGP blows them away in realistic graphics. Just try playing unreal, UT or even Tribes on a Gforce, TNT2 or ATI card Sorry but D3D just don't cut it over true 3DFX Graphics.
But back to consoles, PS2 has them all beat hands down, have to wait and see what the gamecube looks like, never underestimate Nintendeo.

So... What consoles are the rest of your going to add to your collection come November?

Personally I promised myself that after Dreamcast, I would never waste money on a console again. So hopefully if my will power is stronger than I think it is, I won't have anymore videogame systems to list.

  3. Alright, I just stumbled upon this topic and would like to throw in my 2 cents. I got my NES when I was 5 and have had it ever since. Right now I own a little over 115 games! I also own a japanese famicom converter and have many "x in 1" cartridges. The largest one is 1200 in 1 (not a typo) and they have great games. I love NES and to anyone that is a purist should buy a game axe (www.lik-sang.com) I also own a SNES and a growing collection of about 30 games. That is my newest system. You must remember, sports games are much better then than now. In football games you have to push 8 combinations of buttons, in Tecmo Bowl you hit 2 buttons to pass, and you catch the ball everytime! If anyone has any NES stuff they want to unload I'll be glad to purchase them, I am a collector. I am looking for a power glove and a ROB robot right now.

  4. Oh, I also forgot, I have an Atari 2600 with about 25 games, and Atari 800 with about 10, but I also have the accesory Atari 410 that could play games off of cassetes. I also have about 3 GameGears (garage sales, they're great!) with about 30 games. I also own Colecovision with the more popular games like donkeykong and others. But really, you should look into the game axe and other cool things at http://www.lik-sang.com

  5. If you're going to play SNES/NES games on your DC you need the emulator, it's called Nester DC. You can either add your own roms or get ready made ones with roms included. I have one disc w/roughly 800 NES games on it. It has all the Mario Bros., Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Kid Icarus, Contra...etc. I'm just not sold on the PS2 or Xbox or even the Gamecube. If it's as versatile as a DC then maybe I'll consider buying it. Until then I'm sticking w/my DC.

DC really is the best system. I take back that SNES is best... It's second best. Since DC can emulate the SNES, it's better than the original. I think I will start finding out about Nester DC and stuff so I can emulate all the old NES and SNES games. That would kick ass. And that Bleemcast stuff... man, if I can emulate a PSX game, I am going to be so happy! Because then I can play Dance DAnce Revolution all versions and mixes! That sucks that SEGA retired the DC. They are fifty bucks now, brand new at the store. I might just go buy another one for insurance if my current one breaks or something.

What about the ultimate emulater - The PC. Surely that would be best? I have nearly every type of console emulater ever programmed and 100's of games. You get many more options such as saving, speed etc that you just dont get with hardware. PC is king of emulaters.

í play ps1 and ps2 games. i have no interest in buying an x-box or gamecube.

i don't want to see x-box flop, but i don't want to see it beat out ps2.

  9. playing emulators on PC pretty much sucks frankly. Nothing can beat using a good controller on a T.V. like with Dreamcast. The best NES emu for DC is called nesterdc v.30 http://www.dcemulation.com has SNES,gameboy,NES emus and much more. It is very easy to do.

So let me get this straight... NesterDC lets you emulate all those Nintendo systems, and all you need to do is burn the ROMs onto the CDR along with NesterDC? How do you pick what games to load? Once it loads up, is there just a list of all the ROMS on the CDR? Can you get out of the current game and then go pick a new one, or do you have to reboot the DC every time or something? I guess I should go to that site and read it instead of asking here, although that's what the forum is for, so people can get information here without looking too hard.

OH MY GOD... That is completely ridiculous. The Dreamcast is backwards compatible with Playstation games, too! w00t! I just checked out the site, and it's amazing. I've never owned one of the sony systems, but now I can play their games. I am going to start buying some PSX games now. DC is truly the best system. It can emulate any other system! WTF! That's nuts... Ofcourse nothing will ever beat PC. But we're talking consoles here. PC beats any console any day hands down. Counter-Strike forever!

What about a TV out card? You can also get modified console controllers for PCs.

Yep. d4n13l is right! He has you beat, because the PC is really the best and most versatile of all. Afterall, a PC can serve as one, or more than one, of many of your entertainment system's components, not just a gaming console.

  16. Anything available like a NES/SNES emulator for the PSX? Where can I find out how to build something that will let me transfer my games to rom images?

Also, where can I buy connectors and get instructions & drivers to make my (S)NES/PSX/other game controllers work on my PC. I am not afraid of a soldering iron, but need to know pinouts and I am no good at drivers/other programming, so I need control software that's been prewritten.

You should rename yourself to PC Padwan Learner!
I have no idea, man... but keep looking around! How do they make NES and SNES ROMs anyway? Oh, and how the heck can you play a pirated GameBoy Advance game? I was recently on some IRC fservs looking for Dreamcast games, and in the root directory of one of the fservs, there was a directory called GBA. When I saw it, I thought "Oh, GameBoy Advance, how nice." Then I did a doubletake, because GBA is brand new, but also runs on cartridges! So I went in to see if it was really GBA or something completely different. Sure enough, it was GBA games they had stored in zip files, and they were all like 12MB and less. So either those were all fakes, or they were quite real and ready to be... burned? I guess they are just getting an early start to ripping all the games as they are released, so once someone releases an emulator, they'll have all of the games ready for use. But damn, how can you play them NOW? And just how do you extract games from their carts? Are there any neato non-consumer level cables out there which plug a GBA into a PC? It's just so crazy how efficient piracy is. It's almost like a parallel industry to the real thing. Sheesh...

To make a rom you have to dump the contents of the game cartridge onto your PC. There is hardware that does this. PC Master, you would be better of asking the people that make the roms for PCs. You need to know assembler, so its not that easy, even if you do know a bit of progamming.
There are loads of sites out there that can give you the info you need.
