I'm doing a video job for someone and they gave me a specially-recorded song that is in the .cda format. It evidentally was on a cd at one time, but I don't have the cd, just the file they somehow pulled off the cd.
Is there some way to convert this .cda file to .mp3 or .wav?
Thanks

Have you tried to change the extension to .wav?If that doesn't work try Audacity(free in Tools).

A .cda isn't the song, its really just a shortcut to the song on the CD. Copying it to your harddrive from the CD does nothing. Also, if you check out the .cda file itll be like 1kb. It just points to the CD, once you take the CD out it means nothing.
So in conclusion, CDex is a good idea, just tell your friend he needs to use it to rip the song off the CD and give you the .mp3 file.
