I was just curious. Here's my question: a cd-r fits only 80 min. of video on it right? Then how do companies put movies that are over 80 min. onto a dvd? Do they use a diff. type of cd? Thx, for the help.

Yes, CD and DVD are definitely different formats.
It's like comparing two different formats like VHS and VCD. =| -
Click to the left and read the "What is..." sections. Basically a CDR will hold 650MB, while a DVD will hold 9.7GB. Big difference.
