  1. I've been doing most of my work with Flash, and then exporting it into AVI format, but I'm curious if there are any better applications that can create nice text effects (for credits, titles, or for trailers).

    What do you guys think?

Try 'ResumAnim' pretty good program. VERY BASIC, so you might have to play around some to figure it out. The ChapAnim program is also pretty nice, but I find TMPGenc to be much faster (but lower quaility, can't win them all).

  4. Nothing creates effects better than Adobe's After Effects, but it all depends on what you're trying to achieve. For the MTV look, use AE. Otherwise, you can accomplish a lot (albeit still) effects with just Photoshop.

you might check out Swish 2.0, it's a .swf generator that's optimized for doing text, and it can export directly to .avi. Kind of like Flash Lite - worth checking out, especially if you're a Flash guru.

There's a Premiere / AfterEffects plugin called Animatext, I can't remember how easy or hard it was to work with, since I haven't touched it in a while.

And there's another program called Particle Illusion (www.wondertouch.com) that's made for making pseudo-3D effects like smoke, fire, rain etc., they have a downloadable library of text effects you can use with the program.

  6. Thanks guys, I'll look more into getting Adobe After Effects, and try Swift. Again, I appreciate your help.

  7. Ulead VideoStudio and Windows Movie maker both have options for title screens and credits with a bunch of different effects.

I got the Ulead with my cap card and Movie Maker came with Windows. So for me cost was minimal.
