  2. You didn't really provide much info. Do you want removable subs like a normal dvd has? If that's the case, I don't believe the the m2v file contains them. They are just another streem that is muxed in during authoring. (just like the audio). Do you have a favorate dvd authoring program? Are you going to type up the subs yourself? If not, what format are they currently in?

Subtitles can only be "burned" into the image while doing an encode. So to make the subs "burned" into the video you would have to re-encode your M2V to a new M2V (or if you still have the source file that you made the M2V with you can probably go back to that file and encode it to M2V while "burning" the subs in).

Subs can be added like this in an AVISynth AVS script. You can use such a script with TMPGEnc (which I use) or CCE ... perhaps other encoders as well ... not sure but those are the two most popular encoders.

Otherwise you can add the subs at the authoring stage which means you can use your existing M2V but then the subs will be selectable although you can make them ON by default with the authoring program you use.

    P.S.
The best authoring program for dealing with seperate subtitle files is probably Maestro. In fact very few authoring programs support sub files.
