Hi I'm looking for some cool video editing software. I've heard good reviews on Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7 and Adobe Premiere 6.5. Are they really worth the money? and does anyone have any other recommendations?

I love Adobe Premiere and if you use/have other Adobe products it's probably the way to go. But the software mentioned by the mod, Vegas Video, does get rave reviews, and if you're not married or like Adobe products it's probably the editor of choice.
I haven't used Ulead's editor, but their DVD Authoring products aren't anything to write home about. But worse than that, customer support is pretty bad, and their forums are among the worse around (by contrast, the Adobe forums are among the best). If this isn't important to you I wouldn't worry about it, but for me forum/online support is a big deal in this age of ever complicated products and technology (so if you are leaning on Vegas Video and need online support, you might want to check out and see what their forums are like as well).
The other plus about Adobe is they are by far the most written about products -- if this appeals to you remember you can find more third party books on Premiere than any other editor. Because nowadays most manuals aren't worth the paper they aren't printed on, this is very important to me."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang -
I used to use Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5. It's pretty Good. Now I use Premiere 6.5 and think it is a superior Program. I have been using PhotoShop for a few years and the two go together perfectly. If you want to get an Idea of what you can do in Premiere, check this site out http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial/tutorials.htm

actually for me Titling is the weak part of Premiere. I switched for 6.0 (Title Express) to 6.5 (internal Titler) because it supports mpeg-2 encoding. Title Express was not of easy use, the new Titler for 6.5 lacks lots of templates.
Premiere (as any product of this scope) may be difficult to use at first, but its worth the effort. And I agree with support and documentation.
