  1. I am trying to burn a mpg vcd (mostly) compliant from files recieved from a friend.

    These are the specs:
    File : 24 Mb (3.66 Gb), duration 0:04:59, type MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality 60 %
    Video : 3.66 Gb, 104857 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 352*240 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported
    Audio : 2.28 Mb, 64 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 1 chan., 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

Since the audio is a single channel versus 2 for stereo, will it play correctly in most dvd players. I burn plenty of vcds and they usually work fine (its a Panasonic, highly compatible according to this site), but I have not ran into a single channel vcd before. Will the sound work?

Simple to find out, create the VCD and burn it on a CD-RW. Let us know the result.
To play it safe: convert the sound from mono to stereo (lots of ways to do this) and burn a compliant VCD.

    Regards, Kees Janssen.
