    Hi there.

I have been searching up and down on this very well Forum, but haven't been able so find much about the different software - many nice guides though...

    Well - I have recently bought a NEC ND-1300 DVD+-RW and a Sony DDU-1621 DVD-ROM.

Now I would like to burn most of my old VHS-tapes to DVD - AND - copy (backup) my own DVD's.
Which software will do the trick for both - and if no software can do both, which two should I buy?

In time I will proberly edit and burn my own DVD's from homevideo - but not yet...

Finally I miss a site that offers a friendly view of the different software and what they can do - maybe also a rating of some kind...

Hope someone can help me out - and sorry if this question have been asked before, but I really have searched this forum and site alot.

Hey I was always told that the only STUPID question is the one that U don't ask :P

The BEST program out there for DVD copying is ((( DVDSHRINK ))) and get this.................its freeware. You can get the software here......... http://www.dvdshrink.org/

As far as going from VHS to DVD...........thats a bit more complicated. I have done allot of this and I like to use a piece of Hardware called ((( ADS Instant DVD ))). You have to have a hardware device to get the VHS video onto the computer before you can even think about making a DVD out of it.

One of the cool things about the ADS Instant DVD device is that it will do 3 diffrent levels of DVD Compliant mpg's.

Then all you have to do is use a program like Moviefactory 2 or TMPGEnc DVD Author...........or 1 of 100 others out there to make the DVD.

    Hope this helps.
