  1. hi. ok. im working on a shirt. ive already got it done... BUT!! i filmed it on my jvc gr-sxm340 s-vhs-c cam. now, ive gone thru all stages of production and now that im done, i see that the quality of the video is, well, pretty bad... ok. so back to my origianl question... whats the best _video camera_ format for the best price... i know that 35mm, super 16 and 16mm are the best, but i dont have 4000+ bucks! also, whats you guys opinion of the old 8mm cams and such...? thanks...

Although my old JVC 240 never gives me video to complain about, if you want to step up in video quality, try digital video camcorders. I bouhgt a Sony and I really like digital video, but I have no intention of giving up my JVC just yet (unless someone wants to trade for a VX2000 ).

  3. Yes, DV is the way to go. If you have the money, get a 3 CCD camcorder for the best result.

    Wiley,
What are you actually saying? Working on a "shirt". A T-shirt? Converting a vid cam pic to a printable?
You need better res than a vid cam. They're 3 to 5 KILOpixels. Cheap, computer top video cams have higher res. They look good on your TV, because the TV doesn't require megapixel resolution. And,you may never see higher res, because TV can't use it. HDTV may, but it's not prevelant enough.
As of now, take a good digital shot, and convert it. ( I don't even know if that is your purpose. )

So, were you working on a car, or a small film clip? Both use the slang word, "short".

As already stated, DV is where its at.

Some cameras also have analog inputs (s-video or composite... I don't know) which can be used to capture from VHS or what ever. This means you wouldn't need another capture device for this... assuming you ever want to.

    I'm partial to Sony.

I have a Sony DV Camera and just transfered video of my 1 yr. old to Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 and created a menu and chapters and it came out great.

    GOOD LUCK,
