Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before, and if so what can you do about it?
Btw, burning at 2x, playing on standalone DVD player philips 700 on cdrw.

It could be that your standalone player has difficulties with the brand of CD-R media you are using.
I recently had a similar problem with a new batch of CDs of a brand that I had been using successfully before (Platinum 700 MB), so this may even vary between different batches of the same brand.
You could also try burning at a different speed. Contrary to conventional wisdom, a CD of the above bad batch that I had burned at 12x played back with only a few errors, whereas one that I did at 2x to see if it worked any better wasn't recognised by the player at all.

ahh I will try that freshmen. I only have a 2x cd burner though. I will try it with different cdr's. Also could it be if I have an older TV that it may not support PAL format?

Don't know. Can you describe a bit more specifically what you mean by "bad reception"? If it's a problem with the CD-media, the picture will look mostly normal with frequent occurences of blockiness, i.e. small squares occuring on the screen.
If it's a PAL/NTSC issue you might not even get any picture at all, or at least have severe problems with the display of colours.
I live in Germany, and my oldish tv-set can't do NTSC. That's no problem, however, because I can set my DVD-player to always output PAL, which means that NTSC-DVDs or VCDs are converted by the player. If this is your problem, you should check, if your DVD player has a similar setting (just the other way round). -
To describe what is happening to my TV when playing the CD, The picture shows but it is not stable and rolls up non stop. The picture will look like what happens when your tracking is messed up on your VCR. On the Cpu it works fine, I think it is the Pal format. I will let you know.
thanks again. -
It did the same thing in Pal format. Now I have no idea whats wrong. Maybe I should try another program
