  1. I'm new to this ripping lark and I was wondering if anyone can steer me the right way. I have the following setup

    Imac 600 35gig free
    Belkin Videobus USB
    Strata Videoshop 4
    Toast Titanium

    My queries are

    1. What encoding mode do i set videoshop to?
    2. How much space does an average 100min movie take up?
    3. How do I then copy it over to toast to create a vcd?

I know these are probably really sad questions but I want to do it properly and I can't get www169 to work.
    Cheers in advance

  2. OK, first things first. VCDs have a fixed bitrate, so you will get aprox. 74 mins of video onto one disc.
How to create them? Well, capture the video in any quicktime format, use either no compressor at all or the video compressor. Then, fire up Toast Titanium and chose "Other->VCD". Drop the quicktime over it and there you go. It will convert the Quicktime into MPEG1 and then burn it. Even works with DivX when you have opened the DivX player while dropping the divx into Toast (but you have to doctor and predecode the audio first)
