ffmpegx mux error, mmt mux error etc...

I kep getting this error. I have opened both the video .m2v with video lan, plays fine

I have opened the .mp2 in quicktime, plays fine. Ive even resaved as self contained with quicktime for the .mp2
Still same error.

these files came from a MUXED MPEG that was just slightly (30 megs) too large to get it to fit onto 2 cd-rs in SVCD format.

I would like to reencode the m2v at just a slightly lower bitrate to make it fit and then remux it. So i encoded the m2v down just a hair and went to remux with the audio sorce i demuxed using mpgtx.

any thoughts!?

this is my test file of 20 megs so i dont waste all the time on my full file but i cant get this .mp2 to be recognized

Hum, try the "mp2" preset and do a mp2 -> mp2 conversion to see if it helps (also check "Invert mapping" in the audio tab - as always when you do audio -> audio conversions without any video in the input file).

major - i did what you said, looks like it worked for the process, but out of a 2meg .mp2 (my test section of the whole .mpeg) i get a 10 meg .mp2

opening this in quicktime, it opens fine, but then when i go to play it, quicktime crashes.
3times so far. Advancing forward to 1/2 of the track pushing play there is nothing, no sound.
strange.

any thoughts??

Consider the eventuality that your source mp2 is fuxx0red, or try bbDemux to re-extract it and see if it makes any difference, or convert it to WAV with quicktime and then use ffmpegX to do WAV -> mp2.

Here's the thing, the source is a .mpeg (mpeg2 encoded) that is muxed and ready to go for SVCD only problem is its just a hair too large. I get one .bin at 805 megs and the other at 835 megs.

IS there any way to have ffmpegx accept a muxed mpeg and reencode it at slightly smaller bitrate so the split will make two 805 meg bins?

I tried just inputing the .mpeg file and running my normal conversion like I do for .vob to svcd, but after it got finished with the movie.mpg the termain said /movie.mp2 could not be located. (there is no movie.mp2)

Just curious. So what i did was demux the mpeg to .m2v and .mp2 and then ran the .m2v through to slower the bitrate. Then I went to remux the .mp2 back to this new lower bitrate .m2v. (this is when it said the .mp2 was unrecognizable.)

The source is good, as i can watch the entire movie with sound using the original movie.mpeg.

THinking i could export it with the quicktime pro mpeg2 option, i open it in quicktime, it plays back fine, but when i choose mpeg2 export two things happen 1. Quicktime says no video file present for the file ?!!? 2. there is no extimated file size so I have no way of choosing an export setting.

Just wondering what my options are here.


For future reference, is 80 min mode 2 what I should choose for my calculations on .vob to SVCD? I like to keep them at 2 disks for the output. I did 98 min of video, 2 disks 80min mode 2 and chose the rate it calcluated. Its pretty darn close but just a hair too long so that if i split the mpeg output i get 1 at 805 but when i image the 2nd part its 835 megs.

Huh, burn it on a 90 min CD

Just open it and reencode it, where's the problem?

Without the whole terminal output I can't tell you the reason. Send it to me by email.

No need to go through that demux/remux step.

Understand why the direct ffmpegX mpg -> mpg encode doesn't work and where is the error, by looking at the terminal output.

You can still cut the 2nd part with the "split" tool so as to cut away some unnecessary trailing stuff.

Where does one get thier hands on a 90 min cd-r?!!
I was under the assumption that a 700 meg cd-r is 80 min. What is the meg of a cd-r thats 90 min?!?

Thanks for the info major, your right, i can always reencode from the .vob the only thing is i was hoping to some how beable to quickly use the file i have from my first encoding since its sooo close to fitting. Probably with all the time of me trying to get it to fit i could have just reencoded it again

Ill try cutting out the end credits and see if that will let me fit the 2nd part into the image.
