  1. I am a manager of an internet cafe and we are about to install a dvd burner. In considering what type of blank dvd-r media to buy, I have to weigh both compatiblity with a wide range of dvd players and also price. So my question is, considering the above criteria what brand should I get. I'm leaning towards the Maxell since most websites sell the 50 pack at $94.50 and I have read that they are highly compatible. But now I'm confused abou the fact that these Maxell's are unbranded. Does that make a difference? By the we are installing a Pioneer A05 for burning. Could someone please help me? Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

SoCalMK Frst off id like to know where your cafe is? im in socal also and I too have an internet cafe. we have 28 systems and 2 with dvd burners(pioneer a05's). we use ritek 4x media , leda(princo)4x media, and also leda(princo) 1x media which burns well at 2x with hacked firmware for the pioneer ao5. i know princos get a bad rap but they actually arent bad at all. alot of our customers prefer the princos because they come with white tops and the disks look thicker and less likely to be scratched on top due to the white protective layer which the ritek dont. the princos have also worked on every dvd player(stand alone) our customers and i have tried. they are very reliable. people even buy them for ps2 back ups. If you are interested in buying them in bulk i can get a pretty decent hook up depending on how many you'd like to buy(both princo and ritek). email me at Syphic@pacbell.net

  4. I recommend the Dup-EZs from Rima.com, I've used them in my A05 and have hd 100% successful burn. They burn well at 2x also with the hacked firmware.

The biggest complaint about Princos is not about compatibility, its about the quality. It seems to be very compatitible with everything, its just after a while, the data disappears due to degradtion of the dye.

  5. I would say Ritek.. I also use PRinco with no problem so far (but since price is near the same, use ritek)

  6. I've used both Princo (1x) and Ritek (4x)

It is hands down Ritek for me. The princo's never finish burning the leadout or error out when I try to burn them. I use the latest firmware for my Sony DRU500a. The interesting thing is though, when they dont finish the lead out or lock up when burning them (with Nero or DVDDecrypter), they still play in my standalone. Weird.

The Ritek's always finished perfectly and play perfectly. I am going to never buy Princo's again. That is my 2cents.

  7. My A05 likes ritek's, both 1x and 4x. I tried 2x princo's but sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, hit and miss on coasters. I recommend ritek's also.
