  1. I started out trying the Sony DVD+RW disk that came with the burner. The player did not seem to recognize the disk at all since it imediately said "no disk". I then tried the emtec dvd-r which seemed to at least attempt to read but reports error after a few seconds. Since this player is listed on the dvd player compatibility chart as being able to play mDVD, I decided to try using cdr disks to save my dvd-r. I get same results as with dvd-r. The vobs are made from 4mb/s mpeg2 video with mp2 audio using 'mplex -f 8 -O 0 -o out.vob in.m2v in.m2a'. I then use the following to create the image and burn the cd:

    chmod -R u+w disk
    dvddirgen -o disk -r
    dvdauthor -o disk/ --video=ntsc+4:3+720xfull --audio=mp2+en *.vob
    dvdauthor -T -o disk
    chmod -R ugo-w disk
    chmod -R go-rwx
    /opt/schily/bin/mkisofs -dvd-video -o image.iso disk
    /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord2 dev=3,0,0 speed=12 -dao -v image2.iso

I have also made disks without the 'dvdauthor -T -o disk' which actually seems to play on my really old Pioneer DVL700 (burned on dvdr) but skips and freezes a lot and eventually just stops completely. On the JVC it just does the same thing, tries to read for 5-10 seconds and then reports error.

    My environment:
    Linux
    Sony DRU500AX
    EMTEC DVD-R
    Princo cdr (mDVD attempt)
    Cdrecord 1.11a08 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg Schilling
    mkisofs 2.01a04 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
DVDAuthor, version 0.5.1. Send bugs to <dvdauthor-users@lists.sourceforge.net>
    - build/tarball 274

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.
