I am in the midst of putting together a digital video editing machine. I am now covering my video/capturing options. I am debating on whether or not to invest in the following:
1. ATI AIW 7500 Pro to do analog capturing
2. Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP
or a combination of the following:
1. ADS Pyro Firewire card w/ATI Radeon Card
2. ADVC-50 w/ATI Radeon Card
Which would you suggest with someone on a modest budget to get the best performance/price ratio? I will be converting mainly old vhs and 8mm tapes over to DVD. I will also be using minidv on future projects but am more concerned with the analog capturing capabilities in order to get the best quality capture.
I don't know much about how the ADVC products work nor the ADS Pyro Firewire (does this do hardware encoding?) card. But I noticed that the list of top capture cards included the ADS Pyro and ADVC-50 (can't afford the ADVC-100 right now).
Any comments or suggestions?
