    Hello
    So i have a .m2v (video no audio) (7500k/sec)
    and .ac3 (audio not video)

I open ffmpegx, choose SVCD NTSC format and then leave as presets for video
Go to audio tab, click ADD AUDIO and choose my .ac3 its set already to mp2 so i click encode audio
then to OPTIONS, left it all alone
then to TOOLS, left everything the same except split to 2 chunks instead of 3

    click encode.

    Looks good
a few hours i come to check progess.
Its just a m2v that has no sound! is this just because im early checkign on it ?? (its only 600 megs) and more will happen later?

or did i set something wrong.

    Just wondering

thanks everyone. never done it this way before

  2. How long is the movie file? It can take a long time. When FFMPEGX is finished it will say "Encoding Complete" in the Terminal

    Thanks
I have never done this before so i was just posting my results.

It has finished, but with an error saying it could not locate the audio file that I had told it to encode.

I assumed leaving it at .mp2 and selecting a .ac3 and clicking encode audio would mean it would encode the .ac3 to .mp2 and mux them.

    apparently not

it says looking for title1.mp2 not found. when infact its a title1.ac3

guess i have to convert it first, then do that.

Its a rather difficult program to understand what goes where and when.

So when i get this .ac3 to .mp2 how to i mux the audio to my .mpeg2 (which is now at 2500k/sec) and have it be synced.

is one program better over another??

  4. Use Tools tab on ffmpegX, select video & and audio file then click on Go.
    That should mux your files.

Ok, im going to try that as soon as i get my .ac3 to .mp2
Missing Mpeg tools says i need developer tools, so im getting that installed.

Do you know what the sync results will be like??

    I have latest ffmpegx.

I only ask cause ive seen some posts about sync problems.

if its not on sync, what can I do to sync it??

    thanks.

I have a feeling im getting really close

    any suggestions??

video looks GREAT! but cant get them synced

    help please. IM SOOOO CLOSE!

when using .ac3 it says TOO MANY FRAME DROPS, exiting

  10. Use "MPEG info" to check on the running length of m2v & mp2 file.
Could the video be 25fps ?

    Video Format: NTSC
    Size [480 x 480] 29.97 fps 2.50 Mbps

    Heres the results

Any ideals???? To me it looks like the movie is shorter than the audio?!?

How can that be? This was straigt from the DVD with OSeX

2nd. I checked the source .m2v (ripped) and it was 53 min and the .ac3 can not be run with the mpeg info program.

im not sure why!! the lengths would be different!

IS there ANY way to get a muxed mpeg from a dvd directly??

    Any word yet?

Just for kicks i tried this

extracted just the 1st chapter to m2v and .ac3
mpeg info shows the length of the first chapter mpv to be 2.53 min
after converting the .ac3 to mp2 the length of the audio is 4.8 min

what's going on here. I know i havenet even encoded the video yet and already the movie is 1/2 of the audio !

so thinking id try just to mux the original files together (the .m2v and .ac3 straigth from the rip) I mean comeon these have not been encoded to anything - they should sync right??

ffmpegx - mux as svcd, select .m2v and .ac3 mux. 1 min later, OUT OF SYNC!!

    how can this be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    any thoughts.

is there a general rule of thumb that a non enocded extracted .m2v and .ac3 should sync??!??!

    im at a loss here.

is there something perhaps wrong with the .mp2 encoding?
what are the standard specs for .ac3 to .mp2 encoding?

    thanks
