  2. You need a video capture card to capture the video (see the capture section to the left)

Then you need software to edit the video (eg. Ulead or Adobe).

To get the edited video back on a VHS tape you have three options:

    1) Video card with TV out, plug it into VCD and record

    2) Genlock , this overlays PC video on a video stream

    3) Burn video to x(S/C)VCD or DVD then record to VHS (but then why bother with VHS ^_^)

    Luck

  3. You might try a Dazzle capture device like the DVC100,or 200, Or The DVD Creation Station. They all hook to your pc via usb, you then hook up any video device that has composite audio, and either composite video,or S-Video to the dazzle. Capture, and edit. Then use the dazzle to output back out to vhs tape. The 3 units I listed all have the video/audio outs to do this. They start out around $169.00

  5. Militia,

You didn't say if Macrovision was an issue. Please take that into account when you make your decision.
I use the ADVC-100. It has the ability to defeat macrovision.
I'm not advocating going out and pirating videos, but I have copied in some old VHS tapes I had purchased 10 years ago that were beginning to degrade, cleaned them up, and saved them to DVD.

The ADVC-100 allows capture and playback.

    Good luck!
