Check the compatibilty list (link to your left) and see in your DVD player supports CD-R media.

yes the player does support cdr (but only silver)...if i get silver cdr how do i burn with adaptac 5.0 or Nero 5.5???

I also use Nero 5.5 . Do you use the wizard?
I close the wizard and then slect the kind of disc I wanna make (in your case VCD). Then I select new, and drag the file over. You may try turning off comaptiblity in the Compilation info area incase the Mpeg file is not quite
compliant. I have found nero does a good, if somewhat imperfect job of finding compliant mpeg1 files. -
If Nero or Easy CD Creator says that there is something wrong, you can be sure that there is something wrong with your MPEG-1. Just because your disc ends up working on your DVD player doesn't mean that it is actually fully compliant. Most modern DVD players can play all sorts of wierd settings but if you put your disc on a proper VCD2.0 hardware player, it may not work...
As for your problem, inominado, there is still a very good chance that it is still due to a media compatibility issue. You will have to experiment with different brands of CD-R media to find one that works. Furthermore, CD-RW often works better in these cases so you should give that a shot.
