    Is there are simple program out there that will allow me to combine various .avi or combine .mpg files? I have a whole bunch of 30 second .avi clips that I would like to combine to one big .avi.

    If they are all the same resolution and have the same audio rate and all use the same codec, virtualdub will do it. If any of these factors vary between clips, then this won't work. In this case you can convert each one to mpeg using TmpGenc and join the mpegs together.
