I wasn't sure where to post this question and didn't want to make anybody mad so it's in here.Anyway....What's the best software to use for making a fullscreen dvd into widescreen without giving it that squished look?

Can not be done. You create information from nothing. If the movie is in fullscreen it's already been edited/cut. You can not re-generate a 16:9 movie from it.

Actually, you could use Adobe Premiere and either make a fullscreen movie smaller, or a smaller screen moive fuller. Though the quality may come into question. I myself have not tried this as of yet it but know it will work.
If everything is infinite then nothing is definite. -
You could give it a widescreen *aspect ratio*, either by chopping off the top & bottom of the frame, or by squishing the frame's height. But neither will do what widescreen is intended for: give you what the director envisioned (an what theater moviegoers saw). It will instead be even further from that than the fullscreen version is, since artistic decisions were made on how to best crop the frames for fullscreen.

How'd I hijack the topic? He asked how to do something and I gave reasons why he shouldn't do it. I may have been long winded, but it's still pertinent info.
