in order ta make a vcd from a dvd ripp..i would hafta fit it on like 3-4 cd's eh? seeing that most dvd ripps are like 7-800mb avi.
or i could just cut it in half and put it on just 2 cd's and make it just watchable on my pc.

I do dvd to svcd conversions onto 2 discs that play in my standalone DVD player.
The process I use is DVDDecrypter then DVD2AVI then TMPGEnc then Nero.

There should be plenty of info in the HOW TO section on the left

  3. ok im downloadin an avi thats 716mb dvd ripp
now ive converted an 200mb avi b4 and that turned out ta be 6-700mb mpeg and that only fits on 1 cd (700mb/80min)cd-r
so if i have a 700mb avi id hafta cut it in 4 places then convert if ya did the math works out ta be like 180mb per cd (4 cds)
im just tryin ta see if its possible ta fit a 700+mb on 2 cd's makin a VCD

If you're making a standard VCD then the file size of the source is irrelevant...its the LENGTH that matters. You can fit around 74 minutes on a 650meg cdr in VCD format....so the vast majority of movies take 2 cdrs.
