  1. This is my first post. And I have a lot of questions:

1)Can I put any MPEG on a VCD?
2)Can any file spiltter program join files that used another program, and also, whats the best one?
3)Should I always burn using 1x speed, or is it ok to go higher?
4)Some times Nero said the file didn't have sound or video, how can I fix that?

I think thats all for now, TIA for the help.

Read the "How To's" on Authoring, Converting, and Editing.

They are there for a reason.

2.no, it should be a MPEG editor. http://www.vcdhelp.com/editmpg.htm
3.It depends on the burner/CD-R media combo. I never had problems with 12x speed.
4.Generally Nero isn't that good for (S)VCD. Better you create an image and burn with CDRWIN.
btw, if Nero said, the file didn't have sound or video, probably it has no sound or video.

  4. I've read all that and still don't know what to do. All of this is just too hard..

  5. 1)First of all the MPEG has to be encoded along the VCD specifications. Try burning it to vcd to see if it works. If it doesnt you will have to reencode it so that it does conform with the VCD specs.
    2) If you are talking about splitting a video file then it has to be a video splitting program
    3) Some ppl reccomend burning at 1X but this doesnt matter. I burn at 6X because that is the highest my burner can write at.
4)As Truman said, Nero isnt always the best. If that problem arises use CDRWIN but if Nero doesnt have any problems then use it instead(slightly easier)

I may have an old version of CDRWIN but it only lets me burn MP3s and .bin files...is it old?

  7. 1) No, your MPEG files must be compliant with standard or they might not play on a DVD.
    2) Basicly yes, but it's best to use the one you split with to join, I usually use TMPGEnc.
    3) I've never burned at 1x always as High as I can go, but it all depends on your media.
    4) Like was said earlier, if Nero says something is wrong with the file, something is wrong!
