  1. Hi guys...i am trying to capture my old cartoon series, and i was wondering how long can I put my cartoon onto a DVD-R after I encode it into MPEG ??? I want to max out the DVD-R so that I wouldn't have alot of extra disk space left. Is there a formula or something for me to calculate this ???

Yes there is but you don't need to know what it is. Use a bitrate calculator. There are several in the tools section. The size of an mpeg is dependant entirley on bitrate and movie length, nothing else, including resolution, matters.

Or buy TMPGEnc Plus if you don't have it already, it let's you determine disk space/file size and works great for me.
For instance, I put either six or four episodes of a tv show on each dvdr, for instance I specify 15% for each of the six episodes and they come out fine (if I remember correctly they a six episode set are around 3000VBR which considering they're captured from tv is fine for me).

Use the wizard at the beginning, after you select the encoding and sourse you get the option to select the % file size.
