  1. Sorry for the extra thread, but I thought it needs a new topic, because it's a different question

Thnx to all of you who are reading this!!

At the moment I'm converting 2hour 4:3 movies in DivX4.01 512x384 at 1280kbit/s and they fit on 2 Cds. The quality is good, but I never tried to encode in SVCD.
Would 2h 4:3 movies encoded in SVCD for fitting on 2CDs look better?
I'm only asking because of quality reasons.I don't need them to be viewable on a stand alone DVD, so this point for SVCD is gone

    Thank you once again!!!

  2. DivX is better.
On 2 74 min Cd's you can put 2hour movies in MPEG 2 (SVCD) at average 1428 kbit/s with 480*576 for PAL and 480*480 for NTSC (standart SVCD) with audio bit rate 224.
Average rate 1428 kbit/s is to poor for MPEG2 (for me, and i think for others too). I use average bitrate 2000 kbit/s for MPEG2 SVCD and 2 hours movie fits at 3 CD.

  3. Hmm thnx.
And when making the 2h 4:3 movie that it fits on 3 Cds.. which format would be higher quality THEN?

hmm, i would have thought a bit rate of 2504 would be a bit much for DivX? as its only for the PC, surely an MPEG-2 with average 2504, maximum 5000 minimum 0 would look far better?
