I have one the above cards in an Athlon XP 1700+ VIA based ASUS A7V266EX MB and SB Live! Using PowerVCRII I can record okay but after about 40 minutes the right channel drops out and there's only static. Using Virtual VCR while I can see/hear both channels okay (in stereo) as soon as I click capture, the right channel drops out. Anybody experienced this type of problem. This is using the WDM drivers supplied by Hauppauge for XP.
It occurs both on the onboard C-Media chipset sound and also with the SB Live!
Thanks for any help - this is getting really annoying

have you tried using virtualdub?
you can really muck about with the sound compression settings. maybe this will help?Spence. -
VDub cannot handle mpeg files that I am aware of. My workaround is to use cut the files during MPEG conversion. That is, use the range settings in TMPGEN to select 700MB chunks, create projects for each chunk and then batch process. This way I don't have to start each block manually. A bit tedious but once I worked out the batch mode, it's okay

whoops - I was replying to the wrong post. Vdub cannot use WDM drivers and I don't have VFW drivers for my card (under XP not sure you can use them anyway)

Well VFW was able to see the capture card but I needed to select the Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32) driver. But same problem - as soon as I start the capture, the right channel drops out. Must be a hardware problem with the capture card?
Out of interest what resolution and what format are you using to capture. I tried 720x480 and got unsupported format error

sorry it took so long to get back, my board + chip fried so i had to save for another!!!!
384x288 capture format with 24 bit rgb and huffy codec
audio pcm 16 bit stereo
works great!Spence. -
That's a mono card I believe? There are 2 versions of the FM card. Sounds like a bad card if it drops out after a certain amount of time.
