    I tried searching but the search engine is not working.

    I realize that a CVD is MPEG2 and the xVCD is Mpeg1 but if one was to use use the same bitrate (~2500) and resolution (352x480) and your DVD player can play either CVD or xVCD, would you see much of a difference in the quality or file size.

    I ask because I am using PowerVCR and capturing CVD files but it is harder to edit MPEG2 than MPEG1 so if I captured as xVCD with CVD parameters, the editing would be easier. I also thought that I might shave some time off of the captured file length as well (maybe not).

    The CVD at 2500 would definately look better than the XVCD at 2500. The CVD's image would be more sharper and clearer than the XVCD's.

    The file size wouldn't be different at all if they have the same average bitrates.
