Are there any ways to add Subs to SVCD

Hi,

1. I got lots of MPG / MPEG files - I wanted to know if there is a way to add subtitles to those files without converting it to AVI

2. If I already Burn the file as VCD / SVCD is there a way to add the subtitles on the movie Paramently (Not using movie players - like MicroDVD where you can put the subs on the movie).
